Another Indian Cricketer Marries Kashmiri Girl

SRINAGAR: Indian cricketer Shahbaz Ahamad, a rising star in the Indian cricket circuit, made headlines when he tied the knot with Dr Shaista Amin, a Kashmiri girl, in a traditional wedding ceremony in South Kashmir’s Shopian village. The event, hosted at the bride’s residence, captured the hearts of many, as pictures and videos of the joyful celebration went viral on social media.

As per media reports, the SunRisers Hyderabad player tied the knot with Dr Shaista Amin of Shopian, and the wedding reception is scheduled for 10th August in Palwal, Haryana.

Shahbaz Ahamad, 29, plays for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy and for SunRisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He also debuted for the Indian cricket team in 2022.

In August 2022, Shahbaz was named as a replacement for the injured Washington Sundar in India’s One Day International (ODI) squad for their tour against Zimbabwe. In October 2022, he was named in India’s ODI squad for their series against South Africa. Shahbaz made his T20 International debut on 6th October 2023 against Bangladesh.

Shahbaz was born in Mewat, Haryana, and his father, Ahmed Jan, works as a clerk in the Sub-divisional magistrate’s office of Haryana’s Nuh district.

Shahbaz dropped out of his engineering studies to pursue his cricketing career but later completed his BTech during the pandemic.

Interestingly, last year Mumbai cricketer Sarfaraz Khan, a domestic cricketer, made headlines when he tied the knot with a Kashmiri girl in a traditional wedding ceremony in a quaint Shopian village. The event, hosted at the bride’s residence, captured the hearts of many, as videos of the joyful celebration went viral on social media.
