A delegation of aspirants said that some candidates who excelled in the Telecommunication and Photography exams had alarmingly poor scores—including negative marks—in the earlier JKP (Executive/Armed/SDRF) paper, which they described as comparatively easier.

“How can someone who scored zero or negative marks in a simpler paper suddenly top a highly technical and challenging exam? It’s illogical and unfair,” one aspirant said.

Another candidate expressed frustration, stating, “It feels like our hard work has been mocked. The integrity of this process is in serious doubt, and we demand accountability.”

The aspirants have appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene, cancel the results, and ensure a fair examination process.

Supporting their claims, PDP leader Iltija Mufti tweeted, “JKSSB continues jeopardizing the future of J&K’s youth. Massive discrepancies in the JKP Telecommunications exam where ‘toppers’ fared poorly in the previously held constable exams. The government that rose to power by making lofty promises has conveniently washed its hands of any accountability.”

The delegation highlighted the emotional and mental toll caused by the controversy. “This undermines trust in the system. If merit is disregarded, confidence in public institutions will collapse,” one aspirant lamented.

The aspirants have called for an immediate investigation into the alleged discrepancies and demanded a transparent recruitment process to restore public confidence.

This recruitment drive was the first major one since 2019, with exams held on December 1, 8, and 22, 2024. A total of 4,002 vacancies were announced, and the selection process includes a written exam, physical tests, and medical examinations. (KDC)
