After recent controversies in the Class 10 English, Urdu, and Social Studies papers, Class 11 students have now expressed outrage after encountering three out-of-syllabus questions worth 16 marks in their Mathematics exam held on February 25.
The disputed questions—Q23 (4 marks), Q29 (6 marks), and Q30 (6 marks)—were based on Polar Form of Complex Numbers, Solutions of Trigonometric Equations, and Arithmetic Progressions, topics that were removed after syllabus rationalization.
“If these topics were removed, why is JKBOSE still including them in the question paper? These repeated mistakes are unacceptable and affecting our results,” a frustrated student said.
Pattern of Errors in JKBOSE Exams
This is not the first time students have faced such issues. Several mistakes have surfaced in recent board exams:
- February 24: The Class 10 English paper contained a question from Speak Up, a poem officially removed from the syllabus.
- February 20: The Class 10 Urdu exam featured two incorrect options in Question 10, leading to confusion.
- February 18: The Class 10 Social Studies paper included a multiple-choice question on the first President of the Indian National Congress, but none of the provided answer options were correct.
Adding to these issues, students recently struggled with delayed admit cards and errors in textbooks, further raising concerns about JKBOSE’s efficiency.
Board Assures Students Won’t Suffer
Speaking to JKNS, JKBOSE Joint Secretary Suraj Rathore confirmed that a committee of experts is reviewing the errors and assured students that grace marks will be awarded where necessary.
“Yes, we have convened a committee of experts to identify errors. Wherever they are found, we will take corrective measures. I assure students they will not suffer,” Rathore said.
Leadership Crisis at JKBOSE
Amid these controversies, JKBOSE is currently without a permanent chairperson. The tenure of its last head ended on January 25, and a one-month extension expired on February 25. With no clarity on leadership, students and parents are demanding urgent reforms in JKBOSE’s functioning.
The repeated mistakes in board exams have left students worried about their results, increasing pressure on JKBOSE to take immediate corrective action.
