All Entry-Level Positions at GMC Baramulla Now Under JKPSC Jurisdiction: SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday said that all entry-level faculty posts of the Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla have been referred to the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) for advertisement and selection.

In response to a question raised by Irfan Hafiz Lone, Minister for Health and Medical Education Sakina Itoo informed the Assembly that all entry-level faculty positions at GMC Baramulla have been duly referred to JKPSC for the advertisement and selection of suitable candidates.
“Additionally, 292 vacancies in the non-gazetted/paramedical category from the Directorate of Family Welfare, Maternity and Child Health (MCH), and Immunisation have been referred to the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) for recruitment. The department is also in the process of operating the waitlist of 91 selected medical officers, whose services will be utilised in underserved areas across the Union Territory. Furthermore, 181 medical officer posts are still awaited from the JKPSC. Once selections are received, the selected doctors will be posted at health institutions facing staff shortages,” she said.
To improve healthcare services in the Wagoora-Kreeri constituency of Baramulla, several PHCs, NTPHCs, and Sub-Centres have been upgraded as Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. These facilities offer primary healthcare services to ensure equitable access to essential healthcare, including free screening for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, hypertension, and cancers (oral, breast, cervical). Essential medicines and diagnostic services are being provided — 175 drugs and 39 diagnostics at PHCs, and 96 drugs and 14 diagnostics at Sub-Centres are available free of cost. These centres also offer preventive, promotive, and curative services with a focus on early detection and effective disease management, along with health awareness and wellness initiatives encouraging healthier lifestyles.“The Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Tangmarg is functioning from a government building with all required facilities. Construction of an additional labour room is under way under the Capex budget and is targeted for completion in 2025–26,” Itoo added.
She also said that the Community Health Centre (CHC) Pattan is operational in a government building and is equipped with facilities such as USG, ECG, CBC, X-Ray, urine examination, CR system, dental unit, and a functional operation theatre. The Primary Health Centre (PHC) Tarzoo is functioning 24×7 from a government building and is equipped with ECG, X-Ray, urine analyser, CBC, and dental unit facilities. (KNO)
