Sakina Itoo Mourns Handwara Accident, Urges Best Medical Support for Injured: SRINAGAR: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Sakina Itoo, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic road accident in Handwara that claimed the life of a young student and left several others injured on Saturday.

Terming the incident as heart-breaking, Itoo offered her heartfelt condolences to the family of Tabassum Mushtaq, the deceased student. “My heart goes out to Tabassum’s family in this unimaginable time of grief,” she said, adding prayers for strength to the bereaved family to endure the irreparable loss.

The Minister has directed top health authorities, including the Director of SKIMS, Principal of GMC Handwara, Director of Health Services Kashmir, and CMO Kupwara, to ensure the highest standard of treatment for the injured students. She specifically instructed the Director of SKIMS to personally oversee the condition and treatment of the critically injured students admitted at the institute.

Itoo further urged hospital administrations across the region to prioritise care for the victims and extend every necessary support to the affected students and their families.

The accident occurred earlier in the day when a bus carrying students on a college picnic overturned in Vodpora, Handwara, resulting in two fatalities and injuries to at least 22 others, two of whom were shifted to Srinagar for specialised treatment.kashmir life.
