Ramban Highway Reopening Efforts and Relief Measures Underway: CM Omar Abdullah”: SRINAGAR: Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, on Tuesday said that the government would make every effort to reopen the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway within 24 hours.Speaking to reporters, Omar said, “Our first priority was to protect the innocent lives trapped in the landslides, and we evacuated them swiftly.”

“Now, our priority is to restore connectivity on the National Highway. Until the road is reopened and rebuilt, it will not be possible to send materials to Ramban,” he added.

Omar further said, “Officials have assured me that they will restore single-lane traffic on the highway.”

He said, “For three consecutive days, the administration has been present in Ramban. On the first day, the Deputy Chief Minister and the concerned MLA visited the site.”On the second day, I visited the area myself to ensure that no lives were lost due to the massive landslides,” he said.

The Chief Minister also said, “I believe that any work completed swiftly is more effective.”

“As of now, we are trying to provide temporary relief to the victims, and we will ensure that they receive compensation from the Red Cross at the earliest,” Omar said.

Regarding compensation, he added, “We will assess the damage to victims’ properties and provide assistance according to the norms of the NDRF and SDRF.”

“We will request the Government of India to declare the area a disaster zone, and I am confident they will extend support to the victims,” he concluded. (KNO)
