Officials said that the deceased has been identified as Imtiaz Ahmad Magray, 23, son of Nazir Ahmad Magray, a resident of Tangmarg. He was working as a labourer.

The body was recovered from the nallah by locals, following which police were informed. A police team reached the spot and took custody of the body for medico-legal formalities.Police sources said Imtiaz Ahmad Magray (23), S/O Nazir Ahmad Magray R/O Tangmarg P/S Manzgam had confessed to having knowledge of a hideout with the presence of two Pakistani militants.

“Today morning, when a CASO was launched, the deceased went to the hideout spot (near the riverbed) under close supervision via videographed drone. Consequently, he jumped into the Vishaw Nallah and probably tried to escape via the river route.”It is also learnt that he was aware of the first militant hideout that was busted by security forces in the Tangmarg forest, where contact was established on April 23, officials said.

Today, while locating the second militant hideout, he jumped into the river and died by suicide, officials said, adding that legal proceedings have been started in this regard. (KNO)
