“Sopore Police Crack Down: 79 Vehicles Fined, Illegal Stands Removed in Major Traffic Drive”: SRINAGAR: In a bid to streamline vehicular movement and address growing traffic congestion, Sopore Police on Saturday intensified a traffic enforcement drive across the town, issuing 79 challans and removing unauthorised vehicle stands.

An official said that a total of 79 challans were issued to violators of various traffic regulations during the day-long operation. These included 72 two-wheelers, two three-wheelers, and five four-wheelers.
The drive was conducted under the supervision of the newly appointed Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sopore, Iftikhar Talib.Police also dismantled several unauthorised Sumo and Eco Van stands that were reportedly causing major obstructions and public inconvenience. Local residents had raised complaints about regular traffic jams, attributing them to the presence of unregulated vehicle stands.
Speaking at a public gathering on Friday, SSP Iftikhar Talib reaffirmed his commitment to strict enforcement of traffic laws. “The action will apply to everyone—even police vehicles must follow traffic rules. No sirens or violations will be allowed unless it’s an emergency,” he said.Meanwhile, police urged the public to cooperate with authorities and adhere to traffic rules to ensure safer and smoother commuting for all.
