              “Srinagar Government Official Booked by ACB in Disproportionate Assets Case” : SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case against a government official posted in the office of Deputy Commissioner Srinagar for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

ACB spokesperson in a statement said, “Bureau conducted discreet verification into the financial transactions and assets of Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat, which revealed accumulation of wealth beyond his legitimate income.”

ACB said that Bhat owns a residential house in Firdousabad, Batamaloo, built on 11 marlas of land, along with an additional structure on 6.5 marlas of appurtenant land. He also holds 10 marlas and 13 marlas of land in Mouza Nowgam. Movable assets include luxury vehicles such as a Toyota Fortuner, a Maruti Wagon-R, and a Renault Duster.

“The verification also found significant expenses incurred on the higher education of his children. Further scrutiny of multiple bank accounts indicated suspicious transactions and unexplained cash deposits. Bhat and his family were found operating several bank lockers and owning multiple high-value immovable properties. His lifestyle, according to the ACB, did not correspond with his declared income,” it reads.

A formal case under FIR No. 09/2025 has been registered at Police Station ACB Srinagar under Section 13(1)(b) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act for criminal misconduct.

Following the FIR, search warrants were obtained from the competent court and simultaneous searches were carried out at various premises of the accused. The operations were conducted by ACB teams in presence of Executive Magistrates and supported by local police and other agencies.

The ACB confirmed that incriminating documents and evidence related to movable and immovable assets were recovered during the searches. Further investigation is ongoing. (KNO)
