“Jammu and Kashmir Weather Update: MeT Predicts Rain and Thunderstorms This Week” : SRINAGAR: The Meteorological Department has forecast another spell of rain and thunderstorms in Jammu and Kashmir between June 2 and 3.

Director MeT, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, said that the weather on Sunday will remain partly to generally cloudy, with chances of brief showers and gusty winds at many places in the afternoon.
He said that from June 2 to 3, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected at scattered to many locations across the Union Territory.
The Director also mentioned the possibility of gusty winds and lightning on the evening of June 2.
Dr Mukhtar added that between June 4 and 6, the weather is expected to remain mostly dry, although brief showers may occur at isolated places during the late afternoon.
For June 7 and 8, the forecast indicates generally dry weather, with isolated chances of light rain or thundershowers in the afternoon.
Light to moderate rainfall was recorded at most places across J&K in the past 24 hours, with light snowfall reported in higher reaches. Notably, Pahalgam recorded 36.8 mm of rainfall, while Banihal recorded 34.3 mm. Gusty winds were observed in Baramulla (31 km/h), Jammu (54 km/h), and Kathua (64 km/h), Dr Mukhtar said.
The MeT Centre has advised the public to remain cautious, especially during the evening hours of June 2 when thunderstorms and gusty winds are likely. People have been urged to stay away from loose structures, electric poles, wires, and old trees to avoid any mishaps. (JKNS)
