Man Drowns in River Jhelum While Performing Wudu

SRINAGAR: A 44-year-old man drowned in the Jhelum River while performing ablution near Batengoo area of Anantnag on Saturday.

One Injured In Road Accident At Barsoo, Awantipora

“The deceased was identified as Farooq Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Nabi Dar, a resident of Sheoll Batengoo. He was working as a daily wager with the Mechanical Division, Awantipora, under the Irrigation Department,” officials said.

According to officials, Dar accidentally slipped into the river. “Locals immediately retrieved him and rushed him to GMC Anantnag, where doctors declared him brought dead. He had no vital signs on arrival and could not be revived despite all efforts,” said the Medical Superintendent, GMC Anantnag. The body has been sent for medico-legal formalities.

Dar is survived by his wife and four minor daughters.

Police have taken cognisance of the incident, and further investigation is underway. (JKNS)
