Srinagar: A young volleyball player lost his life in a road mishap in Waripora Dhobiwan area of Kunzer in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

The deceased has been identified as Asif Ahmad Shah (25) son of Nazir Ahmad Shah, a resident of Takiya Batpora, Kunzer. The incident occurred when the deceased was riding a motorcycle at high speed, lost control while trying to avoid a vehicle crossing the road. He collided with a road divider and died on the spot, officials said.
Eyewitness accounts and CCTV footage are being reviewed by local authorities as part of the investigation, they said.
Asif was a well-known figure in the local sports community, especially admired for his volleyball skills. Beyond the court, he was also recognized for his humility and active participation in community initiatives. His tragic death has left the area in shock and mourning. Local residents, teammates, and friends have expressed grief over the loss, remembering him as a talented athlete and a noble soul. (KNT)
