According to IGNOU’s Regional Director, Dr AH Rizvi, the decision to extend the deadline was taken in response to multiple requests from prospective students and stakeholders, ensuring wider access to higher education. Admissions are open to a broad array of undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and certificate programmes in distance education mode, including newly launched offerings.
Applicants can register through the official university website or directly. The University recently introduced around 60 new academic programmes, including Four-Year Undergraduate Programmes (FYUP) in disciplines such as Commerce, Economics, History, Political Science, Biochemistry, and Social Work.
Postgraduate options have also been expanded to include courses like M.Sc. Geography, Geo-Informatics, Applied Statistics, and Renewable Energy, among others.
Dr Rizvi warned applicants to remain cautious of fraudulent messages and scam calls requesting payments via unofficial channels such as QR codes, WhatsApp, or social media. He stressed that all payments should only be made through IGNOU’s official admission portal.
In addition, the deadline for re-registration for currently enrolled learners has also been extended till August 15, 2025. This applies to all programmes offered in both Online and Open and Distance Learning (ODL) modes. Students have been advised to complete the re-registration process promptly to avoid last-minute technical issues.
