Details available reveal that the train, carrying 21 BCN wagons of cement, completed the nearly 600-kilometer journey in less than 18 hours. The cement will be used in vital infrastructure projects across the Valley, including roads, bridges, public facilities, and housing.

According to officials, the indent for the rake was placed with Northern Railway late on August 7, followed by swift loading at Gujarat Ambuja Cement Limited’s Rupnagar facility on August 8. The freight, hauled by a modern Electric WAG-9 locomotive, departed Punjab the same evening and reached Anantnag today, marking the first cement consignment specifically for the Goods Shed.

Authorities say this milestone is set to significantly accelerate development works and improve living standards, while also symbolizing deeper economic integration of the Valley with the rest of the country
