India, who clinched the trophy for a record ninth time, went through the tournament without a single defeat, culminating in a commanding win in the final.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah as per NDTV report said, the reward was a recognition of the team’s “exceptional performance and teamwork.” He added, “The players and support staff have demonstrated remarkable skill, resilience and unity. This prize money is a token of appreciation for their commitment and contribution to Indian cricket.”
Head coach Rahul Dravid hailed the gesture, saying it reflected the board’s continued support of the players. “It means a lot for the boys. The Asia Cup was a tough competition, and staying unbeaten shows the character of this team,” Dravid remarked.
India have now extended their dominance in the continental event, with Pakistan trailing far behind in the tally of titles.
