KTA President Aijaz Shahdhar raised concerns over the physical strain faced by students attending classes in rising temperatures. “A majority of our schools lack adequate infrastructure, including proper ventilation and cooling mechanisms. Overcrowded classrooms only worsen the situation,” Shahdhar said.

He warned that the continued functioning of schools under such conditions could expose both students and staff to health risks. “It is imperative that the government intervenes and announces summer vacation immediately. Such a decision would prioritise the well-being and safety of our children,” he added.

The trade body has specifically urged the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) to act swiftly and address the growing public concern. The Valley has been experiencing unusually high temperatures over the past several days, with health experts and parents also voicing the need for urgent relief measures in schools.

As of now, no official response has been issued by the DSEK or the Education Department.kashmir life .
