SRINAGAR: In a significant achievement, over 24,000 candidates from Jammu and Kashmir have successfully qualified for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for undergraduate courses, as per the results declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Tuesday. This year’s examination saw a substantial increase in participation and success rates compared to the previous year.
From Jammu and Kashmir, 48,545 candidates registered, with 47,228 appearing and 24,565 qualifying. This marks a notable improvement from 2023, where 37,276 candidates registered, 36,431 appeared, and 20,564 qualified.
Among the high achievers, Deedwer, a male candidate from the General Category, stood out by securing an impressive 176th rank in NEET (UG) 2024, making him the top performer from Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, Vanshika Sharma, a female candidate from the ST Category, secured the 730th rank, placing her among the top 10 ST Category candidates nationwide.

NEET (UG) 2024 was a massive logistical undertaking, conducted at 4,750 centres across 571 cities in India and 14 cities abroad, including locations such as Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Bangkok, and Singapore. The exam took place on May 5, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 5:20 PM IST, and was offered in 13 languages: Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
