Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must have a Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL) in the concerned or allied discipline.
For Economics: Master’s in Economics or a related subject.
For Science & Society: Master’s in Social Work, Sociology, Science Communication, or related fields.
Desirable areas of specialization include Science Communication, Citizen Science, Social Work, and Social Entrepreneurship.
Candidates must also have qualified NET/SET or hold a Ph.D. as per UGC norms. Ph.D. degrees from top 500 globally ranked foreign universities (QS/THE/ARWU) will be accepted.
Salary Structure
Postgraduates without NET/Ph.D.: ₹45,000 per month
With NET/SET/GATE: ₹48,000 per month
With Ph.D.: ₹50,000 per month
With both NET/SET and Ph.D.: ₹50,000 per month
Application Process
Candidates must apply online via the university portal www.iust.ac.in and pay an application fee of ₹300. After submitting the online form, applicants must take a printout and submit it along with self-attested documents to the respective Head of Department or Centre. The last date for submission is 30th April 2025.
Selection Process
Shortlisting will be done based on UGC Regulations-2018 (Appendix II Table 3A). For each post, 20 candidates will be shortlisted. The final selection will be based on interview performance. A merit panel will remain valid for one year for future vacancies.

No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview.
Time spent acquiring PG/M.Phil/Ph.D. is not considered as experience unless done simultaneously with teaching without leave.
Publications in predatory journals or presentations at dubious conferences will not be considered. Only UGC-CARE listed journals are valid post 14-06-2019.
An undertaking regarding plagiarism-free research work is mandatory.
Legal jurisdiction will be confined to Srinagar courts only.
Selection will be subject to pending court cases if any.
