RTO Jammu Reveals Revenue Data and Vehicle Registrations for 2019-2022-SRINAGAR: The Regional Transport Office (RTO) Jammu has disclosed its revenue figures from August 2019 to August 2022 in response to an RTI filed by M M Shuja.
During this period, the RTO generated a total revenue of Rs 747,394,266 from various fees, including registration, driving license, fitness, route permit, fines/challans, and miscellaneous charges.
The breakdown of revenue generation is as follows: Registration fee: Rs 379,062,516; Driving License fee: Rs 217,650,392; Fitness fee: Rs 383,262,607; Route permit fee: Rs 41,597,601; Fine/Challan: Rs 68,646,290; and Misc.: Rs 2,074,860.
The RTO collected Rs 4,324,633,844 from token tax, Rs 83,351,600 from passenger tax, and Rs 1,714,400 from accidental welfare funds during the same period.
The data also reveals the number of new vehicle registrations and route permits issued by the RTO.
From August 2019 to March 2020, the Regional Transport Office Jammu registered 35,633 new vehicles. From April 2020 to March 2021, over 39,174 new vehicles were registered, while from April 2021 to March 2022, over 46,221 new vehicles were registered. From April 2022 to August 2022, 20,026 new vehicles were registered.
Regarding route permits, from August 2019 to March 2020, the RTO Jammu issued 42 new permits, including 12 State Carriages, 26 Goods Carriages, and 4 PSV (School Vehicles). From April 2020 to March 2021, 92 new permit routes were issued, including 3 State Carriages and 89 Goods Carriages.
From April 2021 to March 2023, the RTO Jammu issued 473 new route permits, including 116 State Carriages, 345 Goods Carriages, and 12 PSV (School Vehicles). From April 2022 to August 2022, 381 new permit routes were issued, including 2 State Carriages, 314 Goods Carriages, and 65 PSV (School Vehicles).
Five trucks were transferred to Ladakh after the creation of a separate Union Territory.
Additionally, from 2020-21, the RTO Jammu purchased 185 ordinary buses with a seating capacity of 43. In the fiscal year 2021-22, 41 AC buses with a seating capacity of 19 were purchased, and from 2022-23, 56 Deluxe buses with a seating capacity of 34 were acquired. The RTO Jammu currently has a fleet of 1,160 JKSRTC vehicles, including both old and new. According to the RTI, there are over 282 new and 329 SRTC buses under the RTO Jammu. Additionally, the RTO Jammu possesses a fleet of 373 old vehicles and 176 trucks/trollers.
