              ACB Files Challan in Rs 4.32 Lakh Embezzlement Case Involving Government Funds”: SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday said it had produced a challan against an official of the Block Development Office (BDO) Kishtwar, an employee of the Post Office Thakrai, and others.

“Anti-Corruption Bureau produced the challan of case FIR No. 32/2017 P/S VOJ (now ACB) under Sections 5(1)(d)(c) read with Section 5(2) of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act Svt. 2006 and Sections 120-B, 467, 468, and 471 RPC before the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Doda, against the accused persons namely: (1) Irshad Ahmed Kichloo S/o Ghulam Mohd Kichloo, R/o Kichloo Mohalla, Kishtwar, the then MPW Panchayat Keshwan; (2) Vijay Kumar S/o Dev Ram, R/o Thakrai, Kishtwar, the then Gramin Dak Sevak, Branch Post Office Thakrai; and (3) Abdul Samad S/o Mohd Ramzan, R/o Nagrana Keshwan, Kishtwar,” a spokesman said in a statement.

“The instant case was registered on the basis of a verification conducted into allegations that Abdul Samad and officials of the Block Development Office, Kishtwar/Post Office Thakrai, Kishtwar, in league with each other, committed large-scale bungling since 2009 and managed to open 21 fake accounts in the Post Office Branch Thakrai without the knowledge of the purported account holders. After opening these accounts, the officials of the BDO Office Kishtwar prepared fake invoices and credited/deposited money into these accounts. Subsequently, payment/wages amounting to ₹4,32,327/- were released in favour of the 21 alleged fake account holders whose accounts were opened at Post Office Thakrai and remained operational from 08/2009 to 04/2012.

In this way, the above-named accused persons, in connivance with each other, misappropriated the amount and caused loss to the state exchequer,” the statement added—(KNO)
