Alert! Afraid of misuse of Aadhaar card? UIDAI gives tips to secure digital ID
Aadhaar card Alert: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has issued many measures from time to time in view of the safety of the people. Now it is advised to use Aadhaar with confidence. UIDAI, the Aadhaar issuing body, has urged residents not to leave the Aadhaar letter/PVC card, or its copy, unattended. Residents are advised not to share Aadhaar openly in the public domain, especially on social media and other public platforms.
Aadhaar holders should not disclose their Aadhaar OTP (One-Time Password) to any unauthorized entity and should avoid sharing m-Aadhaar PIN with anyone.
UIDAI said, ‘Use Aadhaar with confidence as per your choice to avail benefits and services, but observe the same level of usage hygiene as any other identity documents including bank account, PAN or passport.’
Aadhaar is the digital ID of a resident and serves as a single source of identity verification online and offline for residents across the country.

UIDAI said, ‘While sharing Aadhaar with a trusted entity, the same level of care may be taken as sharing mobile number, bank account number or any other identity document like passport, voter ID card, PAN, ration card. Let’s do time.
Wherever a resident does not want to share his/her Aadhaar number, UIDAI provides the facility to generate Virtual Identifier. UIDAI also provides the facility of biometric locking along with Aadhaar locking.
