Devastating Earthquakes in Afghanistan Leave Death Toll Over 2,000
Over the weekend, Afghanistan experienced two powerful earthquakes measuring 6.2 in magnitude, as reported by the China Earthquake Networks Center. The impact of these seismic events has been catastrophic, with the death toll in the affected regions, particularly Herat and other western provinces, surpassing 2,000 lives lost.
These tremors not only rocked Herat but also caused significant damage in Badghis and Farah provinces. Responding promptly, Afghanistan’s National Disaster Management Authority dispatched rescue teams to provide assistance in the affected areas, according to reports from the Xinhua news agency.
