E-Rickshaw Fare Set at Rs 10/Km SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Transport Commissioner, Vishesh Paul Mahajan, announced on Saturday that the fare for electric rickshaws has been fixed at ₹10 per kilometre per passenger, up to a maximum distance of six kilometres.

Additionally, the Commissioner stated that meters have been made mandatory for all other auto-rickshaws to ensure standardised fare systems.
Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, as per the news agency KINS, Mahajan warned that strict action would be taken against drivers overcharging passengers or operating without proper permits.
Emphasising road safety, the Commissioner highlighted the vital role of drivers in preventing accidents. “Road safety is the primary responsibility of the driver,” he said, urging drivers to avoid violations such as speeding and not wearing helmets.
Addressing delays in the issuance of driving licences, Mahajan acknowledged the problem but assured that the tender process for licence printing is nearing completion. He added that licences would soon be delivered by post. In the meantime, drivers were encouraged to use the Digilocker app to access digital versions of their licences.
The Commissioner also urged citizens to adhere to designated routes, stressing that measures are being implemented to ensure public safety. (KINS)
