He has been practicing his bowling for the past few months.  Jofra has retained his central contract for 2022-23.  England may hope to include Jofra in the squad for one of their tours as early as 2023.  Archer is one of three fast bowlers, along with Saqib Mehmood and Brayden Kars, who will travel to Dubai and Abu Dhabi to continue their rehabilitation.  He will remain in the 15-man Lions training group that also includes Matthew Fisher.  The camp will run from November 6 to 27.

  called Jofra.

ECB performance director Mo Bobbitt said Archer will play a meaningful role in the Lions training camp.  He said he could play some role in the three-day warm-up match against England’s Test team starting in November before the tour of Pakistan on December 23.  “I called Jofra to talk about this training camp,” Bobbitt said, “and he told me, ‘This is the first positive selection call.’  Excited for.  He is bowling fast.

The name of Rehan Ahmed is also included.

18-year-old legspinning all-rounder Rehan Ahmed is an unusual name in the Lions squad.  He has played only three first-class matches, but is highly rated by the ECB.  He can travel to Pakistan with the Test team as a net bowler.  Rehan is one of three spinners in the touring party, along with Nottinghamshire all-rounder Liam Pietersen-White and Jack Carson of Sussex.  Dom Bess and Matt Parkinson were both considered for selection but were not included in the tour.  The base will instead play grade cricket in Sydney.

James Anderson and Jamie Overton will also go.

Both James Anderson and Jamie Overton will join the camp from November 6 and start preparations for the Pakistan tour.  Ollie Robinson, Jack Leach and Will Jack would join five days later.  The rest of the squad will travel straight from the T20 World Cup in Australia on November 18 with Ben Stokes, Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone and Mark Wood.
