“Government Expands PDS Coverage in Jammu & Kashmir to Include Previously Excluded Beneficiaries: SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has directed the inclusion of children aged six and above, along with left-out eligible beneficiaries, in the Public Distribution System (PDS), according to a new order issued by the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs.

“Children who attain the age of six are to be included in the appropriate ration categories, AAY, PHH, NPHH, or Exclusion under their family ration cards or households. Additionally, any eligible person previously left out of the PDS will now be covered under existing norms,” the order reads.
The order also reads that any reported case of a widow or divorcee not already included in the PDS will be provided with a separate ration card under the applicable category, based on financial status and in accordance with the National Food Security Act (NFSA) rules.
The decision aims to ensure comprehensive coverage and support for all eligible citizens under the Public Distribution System in Jammu and Kashmir. (JKNS)
