SRINAGAR: In a move aimed at curbing illegal mining and addressing corruption within the system, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Tuesday suspended two employees and attached another for their alleged involvement in illegal mining activities.

Taking prompt action, the Deputy Chief Minister suspended Shakeel Ahmad Sheikh, Mineral Guard, and Mohd Maqbool Dar, Drill Helper. Mehraj Ud Din Lone, Mineral Supervisor, has been attached pending further orders.
According to an official order, “Pending enquiry into complaints, Shakeel Ahmad Sheikh, Mineral Guard, currently posted in the District Mineral Office Ganderbal, and Mohd Maqbool Dar, Drill Helper, currently posted in the District Mineral Office Pulwama, are hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect. During the suspension period, both shall remain attached to the office of the Senior Drilling Engineer, Kashmir.”
In a related order, Mehraj Ud Din Lone, Mineral Supervisor posted in the District Mineral Office Srinagar, has been attached to the office of the Joint Director, Kashmir, with immediate effect until further orders.
Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary stated that strict action will be taken against any official found involved in corrupt practices. “No one involved in illegal activities will be spared. Action under rules will follow,” he said. (KNT)
