Meanwhile, Director of the Meteorological Department, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, said generally cloudy weather is expected on Sunday, with the possibility of light rain and snow at isolated places late at night.

He added that on March 3, light to moderate rain and snow are expected in most places, with some higher reaches of North and Central Kashmir likely to receive moderate to heavy snowfall.

From March 4 to 9, generally dry weather is expected, but a fresh spell of rain and snow is likely between March 10 and 12.

The MeT Department has also issued an advisory, urging tourists, travellers, and transporters to follow administrative and traffic guidelines.

“Farmers should suspend irrigation and other farm operations until March 4. Landslides, rockfalls, and shooting stones are expected at vulnerable locations,” the advisory reads.

“Avoid steep slopes and avalanche-prone areas, and follow DGRE’s avalanche warnings and bulletins,” it adds.
