SRINAGAR: A 22-year-old youth died after a branch of a Chinar tree fell on him in the Patti Rampora area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, officials said.

An official said that the youth, identified as Umar Ganai from Safapora, was passing through the area when some labourers were cutting the Chinar tree.
He said a branch of the tree fell on Umar, causing critical injuries. “He was immediately taken to the district hospital in Ganderbal, where he was declared dead on arrival,” the official added.
The police have taken cognisance of the incident. (KNO)
