“KPDCL Announces Power Shutdown Schedule for Line Maintenance and Grid Stabilization”: SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has issued a comprehensive schedule of power shutdowns across Srinagar, Ganderbal and adjoining districts to facilitate branch cutting, pruning of trees in proximity to transmission lines, pole erection, utility shifting and stabilisation of critical infrastructure.As per the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, several 33KV transmission lines are slated for shutdown from May 6 to May 27, 2025, leading to temporary suspension of electricity to numerous receiving stations and widespread power outages in various areas. These shutdowns, while essential, will cause disruption in both residential and industrial zones, including government and defence establishments.

On May 6, the shutdown of the 33KV Cheshmashahi-TRC Nedous line will affect 33/11KV Receiving Stations at F1 Centaur, BB Cantt, and F4 TRC, thereby impacting power supply to Zabarwan Park, BB Cantt Tap line, and F4 TRC from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM. A second shutdown on the same line will disrupt the F6 TRC area between 10:00 AM and 12:00 Noon.
Simultaneously, the shutdown of the 33KV Cheshmashahi-Centaur-Buchwar A line will result in power outages at Buchwara and Centaur, affecting BB Cantt, Nehru Park, Dalgate, Dal, and Zabarwan Park from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM on May 7.Similarly, the 33KV Habbak-Hazratbal line will be shut down on May 10, cutting power to Habbak and Hazratbal receiving stations, impacting Hazratbal, Umer Colony, Rangpora, BARC, Habbak, Kashmir University, Nigeen, Kanitar, NIT, and Shrine areas between 10:00 AM and 04:00 PM.
On May 11, the shutdown of the 33KV Habbak-Zakura-Burzuhama line will affect receiving stations at Zakura and Burzuhama, impacting Zakura, Batpora, Gulabbagh, Burzuhama, Chatterhama, Tailbal, Danihama, Khimber, Shopperbagh, and the Animal Husbandry area from 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM.
Power shutdown on May 12, due to the 33KV Alusteng-Zakura line will cut electricity to Ahmadnagar, Gulab Bagh, and Umerheir, affecting Ahmadnagar, Umerheir, Panchayat, Gulab Bagh, Pandach, Khalmulla, and Pathan Colony from 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM.
On May 13, two shutdowns will be observed. The 33KV GIS Khanyar-Kathidarwaza line will affect the Kathidarwaza receiving station, cutting power to Central Jail, PHE, Pokhribal, Saida Kadal, Kathidarwaza, Mir Behri, and Naidyar. Simultaneously, shutdown of the 33KV Habbak-Lal Bazar line will impact Lal Bazar and Baghwanpora stations, disrupting electricity to Molvistop, Botashah Mohalla, Sikh Bagh, Amdakadal, Botakadal, and Baghwanpora—both between 10:00 AM and 04:00 PM.
Three shutdowns are scheduled for May 14. The 33KV Wanganpora-Khanyar-Rainawari line will affect Khanyar and Rainawari, impacting Miskeen Bagh, Makhdoom Sahib, Rozabal, Hazaribagh, Kondabal, Hassanabad, Jogilankar, and JLNM Hospital. Shutdown of Wanganpora-Takanwari line will cut electricity to Takanwari, disrupting Shanglipora, Palpora, and Sangam. Meanwhile, the Wanganpora-Soura-SKIMS line will affect Soura and Zoonimar, leading to outages in Nowshera, HVDS, Buchpora, Bohlachpora, and Anchar. All these will occur from 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM.
On May 15, the shutdown of the Habbak-Owantabhawan (BAMK)-SKIMS line will impact Owntabhawan, affecting Umer Colony B and Owntabhawan from 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM.
On May 17 and 20, the 33KV Pampore-Badamibagh line will be shut down, affecting Badamibagh, Sonawar, Tangnar, Panthachowk, Lasjan, Government Press, and Flour Mills, leading to outages in Shivora, Indiranagar, and WSS Tangnar from 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM.
The shutdown of the Khunmoh-SIDCO lines will take place across three days. On May 24 and 27, the SIDCO-III line will affect the Cement Plant station, disrupting supply to Saifco, Khyber, and TCI Max from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM. On May 25, shutdowns of SIDCO-II and SIDCO-I lines will affect Food Park, Khunmoh, Phase-III, Old Khunmoh, Balhama, Wuyan, TCI Old, Chak Sangri, JK Ahmad Police, Befina Wuyan, and Zafran Colony, again from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM.Additional shutdowns in north Kashmir are also scheduled. On May 14, 18 and 21, the Pattan-Amargarh, Markundal Tap, and HMT lines will be shut down, affecting Pattan, Hamray, Palhallan, Aglar, Markundal, Naidkhai, Shahgund, Nehalpora, Mirgund, Singhpora, Shadipora and adjoining areas from 10:00 AM to 03:00 PM.
On May 7, the LIS Lethpora line will be shut from 09:00 AM to 03:00 PM, affecting power supply to LIS Lethpora (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) and Mills areas, including HPCL, Khyber Agro, and Crusher Plant.On May 7 and 10, due to utility shifting for the proposed Ring Road, shutdowns of the Badampora-Wangipora Tap line and the Badampora-Army Hakbara line will affect Batwina, Nowgam, Wangipora, Zazna, Ahan, Waskura, Kharbagh, Guzhama, Sumbal, Nesbal, Hakbara, Hajin, Madwan, Preng, and Boniyar from 09:30 AM to 05:30 PM.
On May 8, shutdown of the 33KV Cheshmashahi-O/H Double Circuit TRC/Centaur line will affect Centaur and 33KV BB Cantt Tap line, disrupting electricity to the F2 Centaur area from 10:00 AM to 05:00 Kashmir life.
