“KPDCL Power Shutdown Alert: Scheduled Electricity Cuts in Multiple Areas of Kashmir”: SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns across various districts of the Valley to facilitate urgent repair and maintenance works on multiple 33 KV lines.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, a shutdown of the 33 KV Safakadal line will be observed on May 21 from 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM due to urgent repairs necessitated by damages caused during the windstorm that hit on the intervening night of May 18–19. As a result, the 33/11 KV receiving stations at Safakadal and Wanganpora will remain off, affecting power supply to Safakadal, Wanganpora, Saidpora, Noorbagh, Chaidoab, Baghwanpora, Eidgah, and adjoining areas including the BB Cant Tap Line.
Similarly, to carry out branch cutting works, the 33 KV Delina line will be shut on May 22 from 09:30 AM to 03:30 PM, affecting receiving stations at Delina, Jetty, and Sopore-II. Power supply to Delina, Jetty, Kralhar, Sopore, Kanispora, Singhpora, BSF Singhpora, Migrant Camp Khawaja Bagh, Railways Sopore-Baramulla, IE Sopore, Amargarh, and surrounding areas will be affected.
In preparation for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra 2025, shutdown of the 33 KV Wanpoh-Qazigund line will be observed on May 22, 24, 26, 28, and 31 between 10:00 AM and 04:00 PM, disrupting supply to Mirbazar, Vessu, Akhran, Razloo, Panzath, YK Pora, and nearby areas.
Likewise, the 33 KV Wanpoh-Qaimoh line will remain shut on May 25 and 27 during the same hours, affecting Qaimoh, Matalhama, Rahpora, Khudwani, Redwani, and adjacent localities.
Meanwhile, in Budgam, to facilitate erection work of a 33 KV tap line for a new substation at ESIC Hospital Ompora, the 33 KV Budgam SIDCO line will be shut on May 24 and 26 from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM, affecting power supply to Ompora, SIDCO, NIFT, Housing Colony, and adjoining areas.kashmir life.
