Law and Order Restrictions Enforced in Srinagar During Polling Period

SRINAGAR: In order to facilitate the smooth conduct of the electoral process in District Srinagar, and to mark the end of the campaigning period the District Magistrate Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, has issued prohibitory orders under Section 163 BNSS throughout the district.

According to the order issued by the Office of the District Magistrate Srinagar, restrictions have been imposed under Section 163 BNSS from 6:00 pm on 23 September 2024 (Monday) until 6:00 pm on 25 September 2024 (Wednesday) in view of the scheduled polling in the district and to uphold the sanctity of democratic principles.

The order further reads that there shall be a ban on unlawful assembly as per Section 189 of BNSS, and any procession or rally shall be prohibited to prevent any law and order issues. No person shall convene, hold, attend, join, or address any public meeting or procession in connection with the elections. — (KNO)
