PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi Announces ‘Operation Clean Up’ Six Players To Be Sacked

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has started “Operation Clean Up” within th national cricket team. The Pakistan Cricket Board intended to drop six players from the team after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2024.

However, current players are unhappy with the timing of these statements, believing such issues should have been addressed after the T20 World Cup 2024.

The Babar Azam-led team started their World Cup campaign on a disappointing note. The Men in Green lost to the United States of America (USA) in their first match of the ICC tournament.

The Pakistan team went on to lose against their archrivals, India, in their next match. Babar Azam and his teammates received criticism from former cricketers for their lackluster performances in the World Cup.

However, they managed to secure their first victory by defeating Canada in New York on Tuesday, June 11. The Pakistan cricket team moved to third place in the Group A table with two points and a net run rate (NRR) of +0.191.

The PCB aims to dismantle growing factionalism within the organization and is preparing for significant changes across various departments.

Recently, PCB chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, strongly rebuked the Pakistan players after amidst their dismal outing in the ongoing T20 World Cup, suggesting that the team required major surgery.

It seemed initially that a minor surgery would suffice but following the extremely poor performance against India, it is clear that a major surgery is necessary. Our performance is at its lowest. Improving the team’s performance is our biggest challenge,” Naqvi had told the Pakistan media.

Naqvi after Pakistan’s humiliating defeat against USA had earlier said:

It is very disappointing the way we lost to the USA and now this loss to India. We need to now start looking at players beyond those in the team right now. Why the team is not performing is something everyone is asking. The World Cup is still on. But, obviously, we will sit down and take a look at everything”.
