SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced a series of planned power shutdowns in various parts of South Kashmir to facilitate pruning of trees along the alignment of critical 33KV transmission lines. The temporary outages are necessary to ensure safe clearance of vegetation interfering with power infrastructure and to maintain uninterrupted electricity supply in the long term.

According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, multiple 33 kV lines will be taken offline over the coming days, resulting in the shutdown of several 33/11 kV Receiving Stations and the disruption of electricity to a number of towns and adjoining areas.

The following shutdowns have been scheduled:

June 10, 2025: The 33 kV Wanpoh–Qazigund line will remain under shutdown from 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM, affecting the Receiving Stations at Mirbazar, Vessu, Qazigund, Kund and Chowgam. Power supply to Mir Bazar, Vessu, Kund, Qazigund and surrounding areas will remain suspended during this period.

June 12 and June 16, 2025: The 33 kV Qazigund–Kund Tap line will undergo shutdown from 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM on both days. Receiving Stations at Qazigund, Kund, and Chowgam will remain non-functional, impacting electricity supply to Qazigund, Kund, YK Pora, Khargund and nearby localities.

June 17, 2025: The 33 kV Kulgam–Devsar line will be shut down from 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM, resulting in the closure of Receiving Stations at Ashmuji, Kilam, Chumbgund and Devsar. Power supply to Ashmuji, Kilam, Devsar and adjoining areas will be affected.

June 19, 2025: The 33 kV Kulgam–DH Pora line will be shut from 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM, disrupting power supply from Receiving Stations at Rambhama, DH Pora and Nagam. This will impact electricity in DH Pora, Nagam, Rambhama and nearby regions.

The Chief Engineer has appealed to the public for cooperation and understanding during these scheduled outages, which are essential for ensuring the safety and reliability of the power network, particularly in forested and semi-urban areas where overgrown trees frequently disrupt service.
