Sharing pictures and videos on WhatsApp will be twice as fun! This feature rolled out
WhatsApp Update: Sharing picture or video is now more fun on WhatsApp. The company has released a new update. Let’s know about it.
WhatsApp Update: After initially testing it for a few days, WhatsApp has now rolled out the ability to add captions to photos, GIFs or videos before forwarding it to other contacts. Till now WhatsApp did not allow you to caption a photo or video before forwarding it.
So you ended up sending the caption separately as a text message after you sent the photo. The alternative was to copy the photo and send it separately with a caption instead of forwarding directly from someone’s screen. The new sub-headline feature lets you get rid of all that
It only worked on WhatsApp for iOS. WABetaInfo in a report confirmed that the feature to add captions to photos and videos you forward is now available on iOS but not on Android. As useful as this feature is, I don’t understand why WhatsApp would keep it exclusive to iOS and not offer it on other platforms like Windows and macOS including Android.
How to add caption to forward photo or video
This is an easy process. When someone sends you a photo or video, you can forward it with a long tap. On iOS, a menu will appear below or above the photo with a “Forward” option. Tap Forward, then select the contact to whom you want to forward the media item.
On the same screen, you will see a photo caption at the bottom. You have the option of removing the caption by clicking the X icon in the top right corner of the dialog box. This way you can caption an image or video before sharing it with other contacts.
Although this feature is handy, it does not allow you to change the caption. As per previous reports, users could change the caption of an image or video before reposting based on the functionality test. A text box available next to the media item allows you to remove the preset content and add your own content.
