SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) and Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL) have announced scheduled power shutdowns in various areas of Srinagar and Jammu due to maintenance and upgradation works.

According to the Chief Engineer KPDCL, the commissioning of the Tertiary Bus arrangement for 220 KV Transformer Bank-I & II at the 320 MVA, 220/132 KV Grid Station Alusteng by KPTCL will require a power shutdown on February 12. As a result, power supply to several 33 KV feeders, including Wussan, Safapora, Kangan, USHP-I & II, Lal Bazar, BAMK, Hazratbal, Ellahibagh, Lar-Tullmulla, Ajar, Aloosa, Gurez, Zakura, Power House, and Nagbal, along with their feeding areas, will remain affected in two phases—from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and then from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Meanwhile, in Jammu, the Chief Engineer (Distribution) JPDCL has informed that power supply will remain affected in multiple areas on different dates due to necessary maintenance work. On February 7, there will be a power outage from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM in Bari-Brahmana Industrial Area, Jakh, Vijaypur, Sarore, and Bari Brahmana Town. Additionally, Bandral and adjoining areas will experience a shutdown from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, while Simbalwala, Batera, Shahachak, Chack, Maine Ghura, Singhu, Mishriwala, Dhyaran, Sua No. 1, Gharkhal, Gump Pul, and Dharam Khoo will face a power cut from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Power supply to Bhagthali Industry and nearby areas will also remain affected from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on the same day.

Further shutdowns have been scheduled on February 8, with Koulpur and its adjoining areas experiencing a power cut from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, while PHE Dhaini and nearby areas will face an outage from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Similarly, Bandral and its adjoining areas will have power cuts from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on February 8 and 9. Additionally, Tandar, Nagulta, Dhanas, Chaji, Rajar, Bain, and Bashty will remain affected from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on February 7, 9, and 10.

Authorities have advised residents and businesses in the affected areas to make necessary arrangements to minimise inconvenience during the scheduled power outages.
