SRINAGAR: Kashmir witnessed a sharp dip in temperatures, with minimums plunging across the region, the Kashmir Weather office reported. Srinagar recorded -3.1°C, while nearby Qazigund and Pahalgam dropped to -3.0°C and -4.4°C respectively. Other cold spots included Pulwama at -5.0°C and Shopian at -5.4°C. Zojila Pass experienced the lowest temperature in the region at -16.0°C.

Several other districts also reported sub-zero readings: Kupwara (-3.4°C), Baramulla (-4.3°C), Bandipora (-3.8°C), and Pampore (-4.5°C). Srinagar Airport recorded -4.2°C, while Awantipora and Budgam fell to -3.8°C and -3.7°C respectively. Temperatures in Ganderbal and Kulgam were -2.4°C and -1.9°C, with Kokernag at -0.4°C and Gulmarg at -1.2°C.
In the Jammu division, Jammu city recorded a comparatively milder minimum of 9.8°C. Other districts reported low readings, including Katra (9.1°C), Udhampur (6.2°C), Rajouri (2.4°C), and Banihal (-0.5°C).
Ladakh remained the coldest region, with Leh at -8.5°C, Kargil at -8.8°C, and Nubra at -6.6°C.
The early winter chill is expected to continue, prompting residents to take precautionary measures.
