The victim has been identified as Arsalan Moshook, resident of Jahama Baramulla. He was reportedly bathing in the river when the tragic incident occurred.
The boy went missing in the water, prompting an immediate response from the police and rescue teams. A search operation was launched at the site, and efforts were underway till last reports came in to retrieve the body, reports said.
The incident has caused grief in the area, and locals have appealed for heightened safety measures along the riverbanks to prevent such tragedies.
As reported earlier on June 26, a 16-year-old teenage boy drowned while taking a bath in the Jhelum River near Jamia Masjid Sopore in Baramulla, and his body was retrieved from Jhelum after three days. (JKNS)
