SRINAGAR: A 16-year-old boy drowned while taking a bath in the Jhelum River near Jamia Masjid Sopore in Baramulla district on Thursday.

An official said the student, Bilal Ahmad Parry, son of Abdul Jabbar Parry and a resident of Rafiabad, drowned while bathing near Jamia Masjid.

The boy was a student of Darul Uloom Sopore, the official added.

Police and SDRF teams have been deployed, and a rescue operation is currently underway to locate the body. (JKNS)
