SRINAGAR: A total of 370811 unemployed youth, including 240502 males and 130309 females, have registered on Jammu and Kashmir’s Employment Portal as of January 2025, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary informed the Legislative Assembly on Monday.

Responding to a question raised by Ali Mohammad Sagar, the Deputy CM clarified that registration on the portal is voluntary, allowing job seekers to access various self-employment schemes offered by the government.
He further stated that Mission YUVA’s Baseline Survey has assessed 558870 potential entrepreneurs, identifying 154695 employed individuals, 347247 unemployed youth, and 56928 unregistered entrepreneurs. The government is working towards extending necessary support to these individuals through skill development and employment initiatives.
Highlighting government recruitment efforts, the Deputy CM said that in the last two years, 12524 selections and appointments have been made in the public sector through JKPSC and JKSSB, significantly reducing unemployment in the region.
Additionally, 246 job fairs were held across Jammu & Kashmir, where 4893 candidates secured on-the-spot placements while 6640 others were recommended for skill training under various government schemes.kashmir life
