SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns across several parts of Srinagar and Baramulla districts between May 17 and 27, 2025, for routine maintenance, tree pruning, and infrastructure works.

According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, the power cuts are necessary to carry out branch cutting of trees near high-voltage lines and to facilitate stabilisation and shifting of electrical utilities.
In Srinagar, areas including Nehru Park, Dalgate, Dal, BB Cantt, and Zabarwan will face outages on May 18 from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM due to shutdown on the 33KV Cheshma Shahi Centaur Buchwara line.
Likewise, a shutdown of the 33KV Habbak Hazratbal line will disrupt power supply to Hazratbal, Umer Colony, Rangpora, BARC, Kashmir University, Nigeen, Kanitar, and NIT on May 18, also from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM.
The 33KV GIS Nowshera BAMK line will be shut on May 25 between 11:00 AM and 03:00 PM, affecting power to Raja Colony, Zadibal, Alamgari Bazar, Bota Kadal, and Gilli Kadal.
To support the evacuation of power from GIS Harwan, shutdowns of the 33KV Burzhama Tap line will occur on May 18, 20, and 22, affecting Burzhama, Danihama, Khimber, Telbal, Gassu, and surrounding areas from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM on each day.
In Baramulla district, Salamabad, Bandi, Mohura, and Noorkah will experience outages on May 24 and 27 between 10:00 AM and 03:00 PM, due to shutdown of the 33KV Uri line.
The 33KV Boniyar line shutdown on May 19 and 22 will affect Boniyar and Nowshera, while Chandoosa, Malpora, Gantamulla, and Sultanpora will lose supply on 20 May due to work on the 33KV Malpora line.
Furthermore, to facilitate road works and utility shifting, the 33KV Badampora Wangipora Tap line and Badampora Army Hakbara line will be shut on May 17, 20 and 24 from 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM, impacting Batwina, Wangipora, Nowgam, Hajin, Hakbara, Madwan, and adjoining villages.
