“Scheduled Power Outage Announced: Check Affected Areas and Timings”: SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) and Jammu and Kashmir Power Transmission Corporation Limited (JKPTCL) have issued an extensive power shutdown schedule across central, south, and north Kashmir regions from May 24 to 31, 2025. The planned outages are attributed to preventive maintenance, branch cutting of trees under high-voltage lines, and preparatory works for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra (SANJY)-2025

As per the Chief Engineer of KPDCL, central Kashmir will witness shutdowns of key 33KV lines including Rawalpora-Rangreth, Rawalpora-Airforce, and Rawalpora-Silk Factory lines. Areas like Rangreth, Wanbal, Peerbagh, Hyderpora, and associated localities will face power outages on May 27 from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM.
Further outages on May 26, 28 will impact areas fed by Silk Factory, KP Bagh, Jawaharnagar, Rajbagh and Narkara Receiving Stations. Additionally, GIS Tengpora lines including Narkara, Exhibition, and KP Bagh will undergo pruning and maintenance.
Power cuts in south Kashmir are scheduled from May 24 to 31, affecting areas across Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian, and Pulwama. Major shutdowns include the Awantipora-Tral and Sangam lines impacting Receiving Stations at Tral-e-Bala, Tral-e-Payeen, Aripal, and Khalan. Areas such as Achabal, Pahalgam, Ashajipora, Kokernag, and Dooru will face outages on multiple dates between May 24 and 31, generally between 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM.
Preventive maintenance on the Batapora and Wanpoh lines will affect electricity supply in places including Gagren, District Hospital Shopian, and parts of Anantnag town.
North Kashmir will see power disruptions on May 26, 27 and 28, as branch cutting work affects 33KV lines in Watergam, Malpora, Delina, Nihalpora-Gulmarg, and Kongamdara areas. Receiving Stations at Tangmarg, Kunzer, and Sopore will remain off during shutdown windows from 09:30 AM to 03:30 PM.
In addition, the Jammu and Kashmir Power Transmission Corporation Limited has announced a shutdown of the 475 MVA, 220/132 KV Grid Substation Mirbazar on May 28 for critical maintenance including DC circuit rectification and busbar upkeep. As a result, power supply to districts Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian, and parts of Pulwama will remain affected between 09:00 AM and 05:00 Kashmir life .
