“ACB received a complaint alleging that a Patwari, Muzamil Salam, had demanded money for making corrections in revenue records. The complainant had applied for correction of his father’s name in the records at the office of Tehsildar Ukhral, who had directed the Patwari to process the request,” a statement reads.
The Patwari allegedly demanded Rs 20,000 for the task. “After negotiation, the amount was reduced to Rs 2,500. The complainant, unwilling to pay the bribe, approached the ACB and filed a complaint. Following discreet verification which confirmed the demand, the ACB registered FIR No. 03/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) at Police Station ACB Doda.” it reads.
Subsequently, a trap was laid, and the accused was caught red-handed while accepting the Rs 2,500 bribe. The money was recovered from his possession, and he was taken into custody.
