The action followed a viral video and public complaints regarding the condition of the road. Junior Engineer Riyaz Ahmad Bhat has been placed under immediate suspension.

“A show cause notice has been served to M/S Rafiq Construction, the contractor responsible for the work, directing it to respond within three days. Officials said failure to reply would attract action under the terms of the NIT and applicable laws,” reads a DIPR statement.

Samples of the laid macadam and bituminous material have been collected and sent to the DIQC laboratory for quality analysis.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the administration would ensure transparency and accountability in public works and reiterated zero tolerance for negligence. He urged citizens to continue reporting grievances to strengthen governance.
