Power Shutdown Schedule for Multiple Areas Across Kashmir

SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) and Jammu & Kashmir Power Transmission Corporation Limited (JKPTCL) have announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns across various areas of Srinagar and Budgam between July 15 and 21, 2025, to facilitate critical maintenance and upgradation works.

According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, the 33KV HMT line will remain off on July 17 from 12:00 Noon to 01:00 PM for the installation and commissioning of a newly created dedicated feeder (F#7) for the Unani Hospital Shalteng. As a result, power supply to Zainakote, ICCC, Industrial, HMT, Shalteng, Mujgund, Bakshipora, and adjoining areas will be affected.

To carry out preventive maintenance and branch cutting along various lines, a major power shutdown has also been scheduled for July 19 from 06:00 AM to 01:00 PM, impacting several 33KV lines and receiving stations. These include Bemina I & II, Karan Nagar, Barbarshah, Fatehkadal, KP Bagh, Exhibition, and JVC/PC Depot lines. The areas to experience outages during this time include Bemina, Chatabal, SMHS, Civil Secretariat, Fatehkadal, Khayam, Rakhi Arth, Batamaloo, Qammerwari, Baran Pathri, and several other localities, including major hospitals and government institutions.

Additionally, the 33KV Sharifabad-Narbal line will undergo shutdown on July 15 from 08:00 AM to 11:00 AM to facilitate the installation of a 33 KV isolator for the standby tap line of the Children’s Hospital. Power supply will remain off to Narbal, Lawaypora, Sozeith, Kawoosa, Mazhama, Sanoor, Kralpora, Radbugh, Malpora and surrounding areas.

Separately, JKPTCL Kashmir has notified a planned shutdown of the 220 KV Wagoora-Zainakote transmission line to facilitate the installation of AVMB. This will affect power supply to large parts of Budgam district, including Char-i-Sharief, Chadoora, Khan Sahib, Railway Station Budgam, SIDCO, NIFT, Yousmarg, Ompora, and neighbouring areas. The shutdown will be observed from 07:00 AM to 12:30 PM on July 16, 19 and 21, 2025.

Residents are advised to make necessary arrangements and bear with temporary disruptions as the works are essential for improving power infrastructure and service reliability.
