JKPSC Recruitment: Status Update on Assistant Professor (Computer Application) Posts in Higher Education Department

The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has issued a notice regarding the recruitment for the post of Assistant Professor in Computer Application under the Higher Education Department, following a decision made by the Appellate Authority.
Background of the Recruitment
The Higher Education Department had referred 18 vacancies for the post of Assistant Professor, Computer Application, vide letter HE/Coll/Coord/Apptt/A.P/2021 dated 05.07.2021 and No. HED-GAZ/85/2022-04 dated 13.04.2022. The distribution of the posts was as follows:
- OM: 08
- RBA: 02
- SC: 02
- ST: 02
- EWS: 01
- ALC/IB: 01
- PSP: 01
- SLC: 01
These posts were subsequently advertised through Notification No. 06-PSC (DR-P) of 2023, dated 01.03.2023.
Essential Qualification Criteria
As per the notification, the minimum eligibility criteria for the post included:
- A good academic record with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/Differently-abled/Ph.D. degree holders who completed their Master’s before 19th September 1991) or an equivalent grade at the Master’s level in Computer Applications or a relevant discipline.
- The candidate must have cleared NET/SLET/SET conducted by UGC/CSIR/AIU.
Exemptions from NET/SLET/SET:
- Candidates with a Ph.D. degree awarded in accordance with UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree Regulations), 2009.
- Candidates in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted.
Examination and Results
- A written examination was conducted on 29.08.2024.
- The result was declared via Notification No. PSC/Exam/S/2024/67, dated 05.11.2024.
Rejection of Candidature and Appellate Review
Following document verification, several candidates were found ineligible due to lack of the requisite qualification, leading to rejection of their candidature through a notice issued on 13.06.2025.
Candidates were informed that they may submit a representation before the Appellate Authority if they felt aggrieved by the rejection decision.
