KPDCL Issues November Power Shutdown Schedule for Budgam, Keegam and Handwara

SRINAGAR: The Jammu Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns across Budgam, Keegam and Handwara later this month, impacting dozens of towns and villages across the three districts. The announcement has been made to facilitate maintenance and system upgradation works, .

Residents across Budgam district will face outages first as the 33 KV Budgam line is scheduled for shutdown on November 20 and November 22. During these two days, the Budgam and SIDCO receiving stations will remain non-operational. As a result, key areas including Budgam town, Ompora, Jawalapora, Galwanpora, Nasrullahpora, Housing Colony, Khanpora, JNV and surrounding localities will witness a complete halt in power supply from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

In south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, the 33 KV Lassipora–Keegam line will be shut down on November 23. This shutdown will affect power supply at the Keegam, Gulshanabad, Mitrigam and Chararipora receiving stations. The power suspension is scheduled during the same 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM window. Areas expected to face outages include Murran, Rahmoo, Mitrigam, Mirgund, Keegam, Rajpora, Gulshanabad, Akhaal, Chararipora, Pakherpora, Kamrazipora and various adjacent villages.

Mid-month shutdowns such as these often lead to temporary disruptions in daily activities, prompting residents to prepare backup sources of energy. Small businesses, shops and households relying on electric appliances have been advised to plan ahead to minimize inconvenience.

Meanwhile, in north Kashmir, the 33 KV Handwara Old line is scheduled for maintenance on November 22 and November 24. This will cause outages at Adoora, Zachaldara and Changimulla receiving stations. As per officials, power will remain suspended from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM in Zachaldara, Wadipora, Changimulla, Adoora, Lach, Hanga, Hatil and adjoining areas.

KPDCL authorities have urged residents to cooperate, stating that these shutdowns are necessary to ensure long-term improvement and reliability of electricity distribution in the region. They advised people to make appropriate arrangements and avoid unnecessary power-related queries during the mentioned hours.

Internal upgrades such as these typically aim to reduce future outages, improve load management and stabilize electricity flow, especially ahead of the winter season when electricity demand in Jammu and Kashmir increases significantly.
