Eid Weather Update: Cooler Than Normal Temperatures Expected, No Major Weather Disruptions Ahead – MeT : SRINAGAR: The Meteorological Department has predicted pleasant weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir on Eid-ul-Adha, with no forecast of rain or heatwave. However, temperatures are expected to rise gradually over the coming days.
Director of the Meteorological Department, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, said that no major weather activity is expected over the next five days, including the three days of Eid-ul-Adha.
“A brief spell of rain at isolated places cannot be ruled out,” he said, adding that there is no forecast of any widespread rainfall or Western Disturbance during the Eid period.
He added that while maximum temperatures are likely to rise slightly, heatwave conditions are not expected until Eid-ul-Adha.
Meanwhile, light rain continued across several parts of Kashmir on Wednesday, keeping day temperatures below normal throughout Jammu and Kashmir.
In Srinagar, the summer capital, the maximum temperature was recorded at 23.5°C, which is 3.2°C below normal.
Gulmarg recorded temperatures 4.1°C below normal, while Pahalgam was 7.8°C below the usual. Qazigund, the gateway town to Kashmir, was 2.2°C below normal, while Kupwara and Kokernag recorded temperatures 4.5°C and 3.0°C below normal, respectively, as per data from the Meteorological Department.
In Jammu division, below-normal temperatures were also recorded. Banihal registered the lowest at 20.7°C—7.1°C below normal. Jammu city was 5.4°C below normal, while Katra, Bhaderwah, and Batote recorded departures of 5.2°C, 7.4°C, and 5.4°C below normal, respectively. (KNO)
