SRINAGAR: A minor girl has been hospitalised after a self-styled godman allegedly made her smoke a cigarette in a market place in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, sources said.
According to the sources, a girl (whose name is withheld) from Singu Narbal was admitted to the hospital in an unconscious condition. “The mother of the minor girl claims that she was made to puff a cigarette by a self-styled godman at Newa Market,” the sources reported.
“The minor girl is currently receiving treatment at District Hospital Pulwama,” they added.
The accused has been identified as Abdul Rasheed Telie, son of Late Ghulam Ahmad Telie, a resident of Zadoora who is currently residing in a rental room at Newa Market. A police official informed GNS that the accused is known as ‘Peer Baba’ and works as a tailor in the local area.
“We have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections for further legal proceedings,” the official added. (GNS
