Hajj-2023 pilgrimage rates leave Jammu & Kashmir aspirants disappointed
The Jammu and Kashmir Hajj Committee has disappointed Hajj aspirants from the state by increasing the pilgrimage amount ahead of the Hajj-2023 pilgrimage.
According to the Kashmir News Observer, the amount has been hiked by Rs 10,000 compared to last year, leaving the pilgrims from Jammu & Kashmir disappointed. The hike in amount has been raised to Rs 50,000 to Rs 91,000 more than other states.
Despite assurances from the concerned authorities, the rates have been increased this year too, said JKHC Chairperson, Safina Beigh. She further stated that she would take up the matter with the concerned officials and ministry again and would see if there is any possibility of a refund.
In her tweet, she appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resolve the issue and bring airfares for Kashmiri pilgrims at par with those of other states.
Member Haj Committee of India, Er Aijaz Hussain, stated that the hike in the pilgrimage amount was due to reasons such as the increase in dollar rates against INR and the stoppage of operations by Go Airlines, among others
