The J&K Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA) has intensified its cleaning efforts of Srinagar’s Dal Lake ahead of the G-20 event. LCMA Vice Chairman Bashir Ahmad Bhat stated that men and machinery are working for maximum hours on a daily basis to ensure the water body’s fast-track cleaning. The LCMA is cleaning the entire lake, which spans an area of approximately 6.5 sq km, to prevent regrowth.

While some shoreline areas cannot be cleaned with machines, manual labor is being deployed alongside dredging. In March, the LCMA installed an aerator/fountain inside the lake to enhance its beauty and attract more tourists.

The G20 tourism summit will take place from May 22 to 24 at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) on the banks of the Dal Lake, and Srinagar is undergoing a major makeover.
